Throughout the year we host Learn to Fish days for local communities, families, children, home education groups and newcomers to the sport. Fishing is a fun, family-friendly way to safely enjoy the natural world that’s right on your doorstep, make new friends and experience the health benefits of spending time outdoors. Learn new skills and get hooked for life in an enjoyable activity that’s easy to pick up and challenging to master.
At Manor Fishing Club, we’re proud to support the Angling Trust and we are committed to encourage more people, of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience to take up angling as a sport. The Angling Trust exists to promote and encourage participation in angling, and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to learn new skills, enjoy the great outdoors, have fun, and make friends. Their Spring Into Fishing is about skills, friendship, fun, and experience, and exists to encourage practical enagagement in a sport which encourages patience, focus, attention to detail, and a calm, intelligent approach to the natural world. Funded by the Environment Agency, Spring Into Fishing is just one of a wealth of practical, visible answers to the question; “What does my fishing licence fee get spent on?” The more people, of all backgrounds, who are enabled to engage with the joys of coarse fishing, the more anglers there will be in the future; the more anglers there are, the better condition Britain’s network of waterways will be in and the healthier the stocks of fish in those waters will be.
We also support the Fishing for Schools project, a fantastic, nationwide project that helps pupils with learning difficulties and those that have often been excluded from school. The project uses fishing as a teaching method to help disaffected pupils with a variety of subjects such as geography, entomology, biology, science, art and even maths. Additionally, it promotes a wide range of skills such as teamwork, improved concentration and behaviour.
